Welcome to East Meets West

Welcome to the East Meets West Chinese Medicine website. The East Meets West Chinese Medicine Clinic is run by husband and wife team, Ian and Michelle Russell. Prior to training in Chinese Medicine, both Ian and Michelle enjoyed long-term careers as Registered Nurses, working in a variety of clinical settings throughout the world. Their Western medical training has provided a professional, caring and knowledgeable base, from which they have expanded into the holistic health care system of Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine.

On completing a 3 year Advanced Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine course in Western Australia, both Ian and Michelle trained under and worked with an extremely experienced Chinese medicine practitioner, who herself trained in and worked as a Chinese Medicine practitioner in a Beijing Hospital. This training has provided Ian and Michelle with valuable experience in how Chinese Medicine can be best adapted and utilised for people in Western Australia, living a stressful Western lifestyle.

Ian and Michelle utilise a studio office attached to their home, designed to provide a safe, peaceful and professional area for consultation and treatment. The main aim of the clinic is to encourage and empower the client to understand and take care of their body and health utilising Traditional Chinese Medicine. At East Meets West Chinese Medicine, we understand your time is precious and have structured appointments to minimise any waiting time for the client and maximise the time spent caring for you.

Michelle Russell specialises in all aspects of women's health care, including problematic periods, infertility and digestive problems. Michelle also has a special interest in treating children's health problems from a Chinese Medicine perspective, as most of her nursing career was spent caring for children and adolescents at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children. For further information please see our treatment page.

Ian Russell works as a general practitioner of Chinese Medicine, working with a wide and varied range of male and female clients. Ian also has a special interest in men's health, having worked extensively with male health care issues.
