ABOUT US

Michelle Russell

Michelle originates from Perth, Western Australia.  She has worked in the health care industry since 1997, after completing her Bachelor of Nursing in 1996.  In 2002 Michelle decided to study Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine to further her desire and ability to help others in a more holistic manner.

Michelle has been practising for over 16 years and is a registered member of the Australia Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA), registered member of AACMA, the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association.

​

Michelle is an experienced practitioner who is passionate and committed to caring for the health needs of women, with a special interest in fertility and pregnancy.  She has completed specialist interstate training courses in fertility and women’s health and recently attended the Integrative Fertility Symposium in Vancouver, Canada.

​

Michelle is at the clinic on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Ian grew up on the West Coast of Scotland before moving to London to train and work as a psychiatric nurse. He came to Australia on a working visa in 1999, working and travelling around this amazing country. He eventually made the decision to stay in Perth, Western Australia. 

 

Ian retrained in Traditional Chinese Medicine and started his private practice with his wife Michelle. Ian was drawn to Chinese Medicine due to its wholistic nature and its willingness to look at all aspects of being human, both physical and spiritual. He has been working in private practice for nearly twenty years and is a registered member of the Australia Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA), and of AACMA, the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association.

 

Ian has been training with Dr Arnaud Versluys, PHD, MD, LAC, of the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine for the last 4 years. 

 

During his ten-year career as a psychiatric nurse, Ian gained experience working in the following fields: forensic, adult, child and adolescent, drug and alcohol, and in remote community psychiatric nursing/aboriginal communities.

 

Ian is a qualified teacher in the Mantak Chia Daoist meditation system. Training under Professor Andrew Jan, Adjunct Professor School of Medicine University of Notre Dame, Senior Instructor, UHT Senior alchemy instructor and Director of Martial Arts division.

 

Ian has also recently completed levels one and two of the Rites of Passage Leadership Training with Dr Arne Rubenstein.

Ian has particular interests in emotional, gut and musculoskeletal health, men's health, pain management, the immune system, stress, migraines, and birth preparation.

​

Ian currently splits his time between East Meets West and his Integrative Intuitive Coaching business, The Braveheart Institute.

​

Ian is at the clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Hypnobirthing Australia Childbirth Educator

Born and raised in Perth, Michelle has over 17 years’ experience in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Michelle is also a Certified Hypnobirthing Australia™ Childbirth Educator and facilitates classes in the Perth Hills area and at East Meets West.

​

Michelle trained with Ian and Michelle Russell at the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies and successfully operated her own practice, Evolution Chinese Medicine, in Greenwood, prior to taking maternity leave in 2012. She then took up practice at East Meets West in 2013.

​

A registered practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA), she has completed specialist training seminars interstate in both women’s health (fertility and pregnancy) and children’s health.

​

An experienced practitioner in all areas of health care, Michelle is particularly passionate about supporting women with fertility, pregnancy and postpartum issues.

​

Michelle is at the clinic on Tuesday, Thursday and every second Saturday.
